Courage and Hope

Ummmmm - I don't have any idea who is reading my blog, but I do know that I write (1) first - for myself; and (2) for that one person out there who I might TOUCH.  So - here goes . . . . .

Hi - One of my favorite songs is "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack.  It was one of the first songs I got to sing with my brother - 'a very talented guitarist' - where I got to sing the 'lead'.   "I LOVE SINGING"......I've always loved harmonizing 'soft' music.  I remember those days as some of the best in my life.  BUT - I digress, the reason I'm bringing this up is that the words of that song - "when I was younger - and in pain" - spoke to me -

'Strumming my pain with his fingers';
  • Singing my life with his words;
  • Killing me softly with his song, killing me softly - with his words;
  • He sang as if he knew me;
  • In all my 'soft' despair;
  • He sang as if he knew me - as if he didn't care;
  • But he was THERE - this young boy;
  • Singing clear and strong!!!!
  • Strumming my PAIN with his fingers.
So, as we grow - 'as I grow' - I find that I now look 'inward' for that 'saving'.  I no longer look for that 'someone' - aka 'anyone' to come save me.  "I save myself."

I think it took me a long time to learn this.  I hope that I can help those that read anything I write in my blog posts to realize -[earlier than I did] - that, "your courage and your hope" can be found within 'yourself'.  It's nice to have others in your life - but - YOU are whole - YOU are complete - 'within yourself'.

Find your courage and hope within yourself - - - - - I promise - - - - - it's there.

As Always, Terrie
